Baby Blue Eyes Nemophila Menziesii is a delicate, herbaceous annual plant native to California. Baby Blue Eyes is very easy to start from flower seeds, and the established Nemophila Menziesii grows only up to 6 inches tall forming mounds of green foliage with neat, divided leaves that are covered by saucer-shaped, sky-blue flowers with white centers. Baby Blue Eyes starts to bloom in spring and the showy flowers attracts bees and butterflies all summer long.

Baby Blue Eyes grows quickly from seeds making a great annual ground cover for open areas, but Baby Blue Eyes flower also looks charming in wooden barrels, hanging baskets, and containers. Nemophila Menziesii grows best in partial shade, but can tolerate sun if the moist, well drained soil is provided. Baby Blue Eyes re-seeds itself easily for growing next spring.

    Beautiful blue eyes!!

Posted by S. Taylor on 12th Jul 2010

I just love the color of these little flowers. Martha Stewart introduced me to these little gems. Their low profile and bushy unusual leaves makes them wonderful for containers or the front edge of a garden display. I have to warn you that rabbits love them! If you have wild rabbits in the neighborhood, make sure you protect these little blue eyes by putting them up high and out of reach. They are well worth the effort that goes into planting and germinating these tiny seeds. They are not common in most seed catalogues, so they will be the talk of the neighborhood when they are in full show!!
