Catchfly [ Silene Armeria ] is attractive annual or tender perennial native to Europe, but has naturalized throughout the United States. This plant is one of the very easiest wildflowers to grow. Simply compress the seed into bare soil during spring, summer or fall. Will grow quickly and bloom in just 6 - 8 weeks after germination. The plant will bloom heavily before it is killed by frost.

Catchfly [ Silene Armeria ] is very good in meadows or stand alone with its rose/purple clusters of small flowers, and it is good at reseeding itself if seed falls on bare ground; otherwise, it just lives one year. In USDA Zone 7 or warmer, early fall sowings produce crowns that usually over-winter and bloom the following year. The plant makes a breathtaking display when planted in mass.
