Irish Moss Pearlwort [ Sagina Subulata ] is a luxuriant evergreen ground cover! The very tiny seeds create a mosslike, evergreen perennial lush emerald-green foliage that forms a compact 1-4 inch tall, 3-inch-wide mat. This plant is excellent for lovely color between flagstones or spilling over rocks. It spreads rapidly to form a carpet that looks especially nice against gray stone.
Irish Moss Pearlwort [ Sagina Subulata ] can be planted as a ground cover, and in this case it creates the effect of a moss-covered meadow. It has a soft, lush feel and appearance, and the plant will take light foot traffic when placed between stepping-stones. During early to midsummer, the plant is covered with small white flowers. Adaptable to sun or shade ( preferable in the South), it needs moisture retentive, gritty, well-drained soil.
The plant is foot traffic tolerant.
