Kohlrabi Early Purple Vienna [ Brassica Oleracea ]  is heirloom standard home and market variety with a taste that is delicate and unique. The bulbs are purple-red on the exterior and pale green on the interior. Harvest them at 2-3 inches in diameter when they are crisp and tender. Large bulbs are formed on the stems just above the soil, and should be harvested when young and tender. Raw pieces are good with dip. Sow in spring or fall in rows 18 inches apart and thin to 8-10 inches. The leaves can also be eaten when they are young.
