Sedum Dragons Blood, Stonecrop [ Sedum Spurium ] is a perennial plant native to Europe, but it has naturalised in North America. The plant is an excellent creeping ground cover plant which is particularly great for hot, dry sites with poor soil. This variety forms a low carpet of small, bronzy green to beet-red leaves, spreading to form a thick patch. Clusters of ruby-red star flowers appear in spring or summer. The leaves are simple, smooth-margined, and succulent.
Sedum Dragons Blood, Stonecrop [ Sedum Spurium ] grows well in poor soils, sand, rock gardens, and rich dirt; and in a variety of light conditions. Like the majority of evergreen sedums, Sedum Dragon’s Blood prefers a lot of sunlight, very little water, and rocky soil. The plant is lovely in hanging baskets and container gardens as a trailing accent, as borders, or as ground cover.
The plant is excellent for rock gardens.
The plant is attractive to bees, butterflies and birds.
