Texas Bluebonnet Lupinus Texensis is a beautiful annual wildflower that is the state flower of Texas. Texas Bluebonnet seeds may germinate faster after soaking in tepid water for 12 to 24 hours, and they will germinate in about 20 days and begin blooming approximately three months later. Also called Texas Lupine, Lupinus Texensis features foliage with light-green, velvety, palmately compound leaves that are born from branching, 12-24 inches stems. Texas Bluebonnet starts to bloom in spring producing magnificent clusters of up to 50 fragrant, blue, pea-like flowers.

Texas Bluebonnet looks wonderful when planted in raised flower beds, wooden barrels, hanging baskets, mixtures, hillsides, meadows, and along roadsides. This very showy wildflower cover thousands of miles of roadside in Texas, a sight worthy of a road trip in late spring. Lupinus Texensis seeds are easy to germinate, and once established Texas Bluebonnet tolerates heat and drought preferring to grow in full sun and well drained, light, sandy or even gravelly soil.
