Columbine Crimson Star Aquilegia Caerulea is a hardy, long-lived perennial native to North America. Easily grown from seeds Columbine Crimson Star is also called Rotstern or Red Star, and this plant with attractive fern-like foliage and large two-tone, red-crimson flowers makes an exotic display in the garden. Columbine blooms in spring and summer, and slightly fragrant flowers attract hummingbirds, bees and butterflies.

Columbine Crimson Star is a long time favorite cut flower and popular perennial plant for hummingbird, rock, and alpine gardens. Aquilegia Caerulea seeds can be started directly outdoors, and Columbine performs best in partial sun or partial shade and likes to grow in fertile, moist, well-drained soil, but a Columbine plant easily adapts to poor soil conditions except heavy, poorly drained ones.
