Lupine Blue Perennial Lupinus Perennis is a perennial herbaceous wildflower native to North America. Lupine Perennial seeds can be started indoors or directly outdoors, and for the best germination, it is recommended to soak the seeds in warm water for 24 hours. Also known as Wild Lupine, Indian Beet, Blue Lupine, Sundial Lupine, and Old Maid's Bonnet, Lupinus Perennis features foliage with palmately divided into 7-11 leaflets leaves and blooms with blue sometimes a bit red, pea-like flowers that form upright, elongated, terminal clusters on erect, sturdy stems. The blooming Sundial Lupine attract hummingbirds, bees and butterflies.

Lupine Perennial is often grown in borders, wildflower and wildlife gardens, butterfly gardens, and Lupine looks fabulous planted in groups. Lupinus Perennis seeds germinate quickly, and Wild Lupine quickly takes root growing best in drier soils with high acidity, sand content and drainage. Blue Lupine is known for its ability to enhance soil fertility by fixing atmospheric nitrogen into a useful form. Sundial Lupine makes a good cut flower.
