Flowering Tobacco Nicotiana Alata is a perennial native to South America from southern Brazil to northeastern Argentina. Flowering Tobacco seeds are easy to germinate, and also known as Jasmine Tobacco, Ornamental Tobacco, or Winged Tobacco, Nicotiana Alata is a somewhat spindly plant that typically grows 3-5 feet tall and features foliage with 12 inches long, basal leaves that are attached by distinctive winged petioles. Hummingbirds like its tubular-shaped flowers, which give them easy access to a meal of nectar.
Flowering Tobacco is a perennial, but it is usually grown as an annual. Jasmine Tobacco is great in flower beds, borders, rock gardens, containers, hanging baskets, and as site fragrant variety near a patio or deck.
